Living Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt has sent fans wild with his Instagram story before the Red Star Belgrade Champions League clash.

The Reds dispatched Red Star 4-0 on a bouncing Anfield evening thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

Salah hit two to take his most recent tally to three over the last couple of games, while Mane shrugged off his international break injury to find the back of the net for the first time in over a month.

Fabinho also started the game and played well, although a lot of the prematch buzz was created by Kuyt and his social media activity.

The Dutch legend posted that he was back in Liverpool with his three kids, who all held Reds scarfs aloft as they got ready to take in a European night on Merseyside.

Kuyt arrived on Merseyside in 2006 for £16.20 million, and played 208 Premier League games – scoring 51 goals and assisting 31 times. In total the hardworking attacker turned out 285 times for Liverpool and played a part in 111 goals.

He would fit in perfectly to Jurgen Klopp’s system, said rapt fans on Reddit, and the German would have loved the Dutchman’s incredible work ethic and team-centric behaviour.

The 38-year-old is now the U19 manager with Feyenoord, for whom he played 193 games and scored an incredible 116 goals while setting up a further 58. Basically, there is nothing about being an absolute Eredivisie menace that Kuyt can’t teach the youngsters under his tutelage.

He’ll be delighted with Liverpool’s win over Red Star, a win that leaves them top of Champions League Group C after PSG and Napoli drew 2-2.

The Italians are sitting in second, one point behind the Reds, with Paris Saint Germain a surprising third – two points behind Liverpool.
