John Arne Riise accidentally trolled by Mirror journo

Liverpool fan favorite John Arne Riise has been accidentally trolled on Twitter by Mirror journalist Jim Boardman.

Boardman has written articles stating that Mohamed Salah is the best player in the world and that Philippe Coutinho’s exit wouldn’t impact the team as much as Luis Suarez’s did. But his latest work is better than anything he’s done with the national.

Because by asking an innocent question online, the journalist managed an accidental insult on par with something Alan Partridge would conjure up.

Boardman wanted to know if the Reds had a left-back more popular than Andy Robertson, to which Riise swiftly replied. Check below and giggle!

The Norwegian played 348 times for Liverpool during his seven year period on Merseyside. The defender joined the club from Monaco for £5.5 millon in 2008 and departed for £4.5 million in July 2008 to AS Roma.

However Riise was back in the Premier League after three years in Italy, but this time for Fulham. And proving their was life in the old dog yet, the left-back played 101 games for the Cottagers – scoring no goals but providing 11 assists.

Andy Robertson may be well on his way to being written into Anfield folk law, but until he can hit a cannon of a free-kick like Riise could the two players will be on separate dimensions.

Robertson has started his career well, but he’s still only 42 games into his Liverpool career and it’ll take another few seasons before he can be thought of on the same levels as his established alumni.

With 31 goals from defence, the Norway legend was one of the original Premier League attacking full-backs and he’ll always have a special place in the hearts of Reds across the globe.

And it’s good to see that he appears to have a good sense of humour, judging by the emojis he stuck at the end of his reply.
