Neil Warnock attempts mind games ahead of Liverpool clash
By David Gate
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock is trying his best at mind games ahead of the Premier League clash with Liverpool but we are having none of it.
Whenever Liverpool play against Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola you can be sure that their comments to the media will be used to try to gain an advantage. These are called mind games. Now Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock is trying to get it on it but he’s not very good at it.
In his pre-match press conference today Warnock spoke about how it is “virtually impossible for any team” to win at Anfield. He then went on to say that the Liverpool front three is the best in the world.
Watch this clip from the interview:
Is he playing down expectations for his own fans and handing in the towel early? No way. It is inconceivable that he is approaching this game in this manner with his players. I suspect he is trying to lull Liverpool into underestimating the Bluebirds.
The Reds really should win this game when you look at the squads and the form. Warnock is hoping that Liverpool will coast into this game and the front three will not be at their sharpest.
The 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Wednesday was the first time that Mohamed Salah (2), Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have all appeared on the score sheet together this season. They did it eight times last season.
That is fantastic news for the Reds. Hopefully all three will be fit again to stride out at Anfield and make Warnock’s false praise back fire by destroying Cardiff City on Saturday.
Liverpool can heap the pressure on Manchester City with a win tomorrow. The league champions have a tough game in London against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
