Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has gone top of the charts after his performance against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The Scottish international is now leading the pack in terms of league and European assists with six. Robertson provided the cross that led to Xherdan Shaqiri’s fine goal and has been a constant threat down the left flank all season.

Handy Andy was awarded the official man of the match award for his Cottagers performance, although Trent Alexander-Arnold didn’t seem to be over the moon to be presenting his team mate with the prize.

This news is testament to how much the Red has improved under Jurgen Klopp. For a defender to be the team’s leading assister speaks volumes about Robertson’s ability but also the style of play encouraged by Klopp.

When you take this into consideration alongside the fact that Liverpool have only conceded five league goals and five in the Champions League, it paints a picture of a player who is growing into the complete modern full-back.

Robbo has the energy and willpower to make those massive runs forward, but crucially he also tracks back and doesn’t forget his defensive duties either.

The Scot has been so important to the first team that Alberto Moreno has only been handed one league start all season and appears to be on the way out in the summer. Moreno’s contract runs out in 2019 and Liverpool don’t appear to be too keen to offer the Spaniard new terms.

Robertson registered five assists in 22 league games last season and after the Fulham game he now has three for the current campaign. He’s well on track to bettering that the 2017/2018 record, which was the defender’s best ever.

Liverpool take on Watford after the international break, and Klopp will be keen to get his players back to Melwood as soon as possible in order to keep their positive momentum going.
