Joe Gomez

Is there a more improved player than Joe Gomez over the last year? The former Charlton Athletic player has gone from strength to strength during the past 12 months, but could he be moved out left?

Gomez has already featured on the right a handful of times, and it’s telling that Klopp prefers the central defender as cover to Trent Alexander-Arnold than Nathaniel Clyne.

But the England international has already played nine games as a left-back. They mostly came between August and September 2015, before one appearance on the 1st of January 2018.

If you moved Gomez to the left and rotated him and Robertson, you’d either have to sell Clyne and sign someone else (which would be likely), or trust the former Southampton man. As Klopp has only given him one appearance, the former seems the most likely.

dark. Next. Sign these midfielders and Liverpool win the title?

And so this isn’t really a solution but more of a re-shuffle – and for that reason you’d imagine that Klopp would rather buy a specialist or promote Lewis than send Gomez across.
