Liverpool face struggling Burnley on Wednesday night just days after dramatically beating Everton.

Divock Origi scored in the 95th minute after a howler from Jordan Pickford. Jurgen Klopp raced onto the field in celebration, got called out by Danny Mills and apologised to Toffies manager Marco Silva after.

But hopefully the Clarets game in mid-week will be settled much earlier and without any last minute drama.

Sean Dyche’s men have struggled to replicate their form from last season and are in real danger of being relegated – but Dyche has masterminded upsets before and the Reds will need to be careful.

Roberto Firmino is struggling for form and appears to be playing in a slightly disjointed fashion following Klopp’s decision to revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Within that, Mohamed Salah as played as the lone striker with Firmino deployed as the advanced playmaker. This has allowed Xherdan Shaqiri to get minutes as well, but at what costs? And is it time for the German to start Adam Lallana there and take Bobby away from the limelight for a bit.

There are selection dilemmas elsewhere as well as Klopp has to decide what his best midfield two is. Fabinho certainly looks more comfortable in that formation, but then who gets a game out of Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita?

Klopp won’t be handing out rests to too many first team regulars either as Manchester City’s relentless march towards consecutive Premier League titles means that Liverpool can’t afford any slip ups.

And so it’s unlikely that Alberto Moreno will be picked – although Dejan Lovren can have more of a hope in getting a run out. Similarly, Nathaniel Clyne’s Anfield goose looks like it’s well and truly cooked.

But with fixtures coming at the Reds thick and fast, Klopp is going to have to find a way of resting key men without disrupting the side too much. Plenty of food for though, then.
