Prolific striker Luis Suarez has dangled hope of an Anfield transfer return in front of Liverpool fans with his latest post on social media.
You can’t get within four weeks of the transfer window opening without every transfer molehill being turned into a speculation mountain. The latest social media post from Luis Suarez has some Liverpool fans doing just that.
The Barcelona forward – who has nine goals and four assists in 13 La Liga appearances this season – was responding to an “on this day” tweet from the official Liverpool account.
The game in question was the 5-1 victory over Norwich in 2013. It was an incredible display from the Uruguayan who scored four stunning goals in the rout.
In reply to the tweet Suarez says: Uno de los mejores momentos de mi carrera. Inolvidable!!
That translates to: One of the best moments of my career. Unforgettable!!

Predictably the replies to his tweet are full of good memories, well wishing and pleas for him to return to Anfield and wear the red of Liverpool again.
There were some rumors of a possible return for Suarez in the summer when Barcelona were reported to be looking at Roberto Firmino as a replacement for him. That led mean to speculate Suarez could be offered back in return.
That now seems impossible as it has been revealed Liverpool negotiated a clause in Philippe Coutinho’s sale that says Barca would have to pay €100 on top of any agreed fee for a Liverpool player until 2020.
The clause was introduced to safeguard the Reds from aggressive transfer moves from the Catalans but also puts a frost in the two club’s relationship – at least for the foreseeable future.
It would be contrary to the transfer pattern under FSG to pay a huge fee for a player over 26 years old. Suarez is 31 and the only possible way he could end up at Anfield again is on a free transfer and greatly reduced salary – which, frankly, will never happen.
