Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the Manchester United game, but who should start for Liverpool out of James Milner, Fabinho or Nathaniel Clyne?

Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out due to an ankle injury that he picked up against Napoli on Tuesday, wrote Goal. The 20-year-old could miss the next two games, at least, as he becomes the third front line defender to be ruled out through injury in the last few weeks.

Joe Gomez, who would normally cover right-back, is also out – as is Joel Matip. That leaves the option of playing Clyne, Milner or Fabinho in the position against the Mancs.

Only one of those is a recognized defender, although Fabinho has featured there in the past (including for Brazil). But which one would be the best option on Sunday?

United aren’t the force they were going forward, and that way influence Jurgen Klopp’s decision making. Jose Mourinho has got them cautious in attack and their best players regressing.

But they still have some excellent footballers. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will cause problems for the full-backs, and Klopp will have to plan for that.
