Nathaniel Clyne vs Fabinho vs James Milner: Who should start for Liverpool vs Man Utd?

The choice?

So then, those are pretty much the only options available to the boss right now. Two midfielder and someone who has only played 90 minutes of senior football this season.

For such a huge game, it would be too much of a risk to throw Clyne straight into the first team. Maybe that’s the fault of Klopp for keeping the defender in the dark the whole time and unable to step up when required.

Fabinho is just finding the feet in the Premier League and so it would be another gamble to play him at right-back. He’s got international experience there, yes, but Liverpool play in a different style and ask their full-backs to do different things.

And so Milner gets slotted in there again, a victim of his own professionalism and all-round ability. Klopp must be thanking his lucky stars he’s got someone like the former City man in the squad.
