Liverpool beat Manchester United 3-1 to keep their Premier League title hopes alive. Read our player ratings as Nathaniel Clyne and Fabinho impressed.

Anfield witness a thrilling game as the Reds dominated United for the majority of the fixture. Has there ever been such a one-sided north-west derby as Liverpool had 36 efforts on goal compared to the Red Devils’ six.

The first goal came in the 24th minute from Sadio Mane, but the lead was erased shortly after due to a mistake from Alisson Becker. Liverpool kept pouring on the pressure into halftime, and a Jurgen Klopp tactical move finally made the difference.

Klopp subbed Xherdan Shaqiri into the game for Naby Keita, at roughly the 70 minute mark. Just three minutes later, the Swiss winger had bagged a goal. Only seven minutes later, he put in another one, sealing the game for Liverpool.

It is the first time the Reds team have beaten Man United in a Premier League meeting in nine games. It is an imperative three points, as it sees Liverpool go top of the table for the time being, and it is evident that they will put in a serious title bid against defending champions Manchester City.

6.5. It was a tough night for Alisson Becker, as he let up his seventh goal of the season. The Brazilian was bored for most of the match, but was challenged by a Romelu Lukaku cross in the 34th minute. The former Roma keeper was unable to grasp the ball and let it go once it made contact with the ground, which let Jesse Lingard spring onto it. Aside from the goal, Alisson was great in distribution., making a couple baseball throws up into the midfield, and one laser pass up to the front three.. Goalkeeper. Liverpool. ALISSON BECKER
