Liverpool fans need to stop clutching at straws. It embarrassing. The team lost fair and square and it’s time to move on to the next game.

One of the main talking points from the first half was when John Stones cleared the ball and goal line technology found it to be 11mm away from going in. That would have changed the game, no doubt about that.

However, some Reds fans are all over Twitter with insane conspiracy theories such as checking out the shadow of the digital rendering and saying that proves it was actually a goal. It wasn’t.

The truth is that Liverpool didn’t play that well, City wanted it more and came away as 2-1 winners. Everyone at the club will be dusting themselves off over the coming days and getting ready for Wolves in the FA Cup before resuming Premier League duties.

Pep Guardiola’s side opened the scoring after Sergio Aguero blasted a shot in at the near post. The Argentine international hit it was such power that Alisson Becker stood no chance, even if it went in at the near side.

Roberto Firmino then grabbed one back thanks to a sublime pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold to set up Andy Robertson’s assist.

Bit it wasn’t to be as Leroy Sane made it 2-1 thanks to a well executed effort that hit Alisson’s far post before crossing the line.

Liverpool were definitely down on their usual levels. Passes were going astray, the press wasn’t as crisp as it should have been, scrambled in the opposition box resulted in nothing. But do you know what didn’t effect the outcome of the game? A dodgy DRS decision.
