Liverpool forward Mo Salah has a New Year’s resolution, and it is to get more in touch with society.

The hero has since deleted all of his social media accounts from his Facebook to Twitter, and even his beloved Instagram. His farewell tweet read as follows, “2019 Resolution: Time to get in touch, for real”.

It drove fans on Merseyside crazy with what it meant, but we soon all found out, as nobody could see the tweet anymore. After checking every single app, most fans figured out that by getting in touch, Salah meant that he was disconnecting from the outside world.

The question is why? Was it because of his ongoing conflicts with the Egyptian FA? Or due to the slander he was receiving for “diving”?

No matter what the reason, this is great for the Reds. It was clear at the beginning of the season, the weight on the Egyptian King’s shoulders might have been a little bit too heavy for his liking. After last season, the pressure was immense and because he did not live up to the hype right off, very similar to his start last year, and people labeled him as a one-season wonder, and goal poacher.

It has only gotten worse since his videos on Facebook Live that described his problems with the Egyptian FA, and after many pundits have accused him of falling too easily in the box. For Mo, that should all be outside noise. Unfortunately, we live in a time where using phones are prevalent, and even our star winger is on his phone quite often.

Getting rid of social media completely will be great for Salah’s confidence, as well as his focus going into the latter half of the season. Many fans are behind the move to get off the phone as well, and rival Mark Goldbridge from the United Stand even chimed in.

Sure, we as fans are going to miss out on his Instagram stories going to get coffee with Dejan Lovren, and his Insta posts after he nets a hat-trick. But this choice, will only make him more happy, and us more successful.
