Liverpool vs Leicester: A new right-back and no Shaqiri? Predicting the XI
Defence: Andy Robertson, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Fabinho
When reading from left to right, one might believe it is a standard backline based on the first two names. However, this is far from it, as Fabinho will play at fullback, while Joel Matip remains at centre-half.
Matip more than proved his worth at Anfield on that fateful night against Napoli. He was perhaps not in top form against Palace two Saturdays ago, but he is recovering from injury and needs time to settle in.
The fact of the matter is that Liverpool will need Matip because Dejan Lovren is not healthy, as is Joe Gomez. They need a player, who can adeptly play the position, so Klopp will most likely rely upon the Cameroonian international.
Fabinho possesses the skill set to play right back, now more so without the services of James Milner. One might argue Milner’s skillset is best suited for this position, however, he struggled to keep pace with Wilfred Zaha in the last game. Fab can offer a superior pace to that of Milner, so his presence her might possibly make this a more full squad.
