Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez continues to deliver the goods for Liverpool, all those years after leaving Anfield a legend.

Manchester City scored after just 26 seconds, but Benitez masterminded an incredibly comeback as loan striker Salomón Rondón scored via an Isaac Hayden assist before Matt Ritchie hit a penalty to take the points.

The Reds are now four points ahead of City with their game against Leicester still to come – and Jurgen Klopp and his lads will have loads of motivation to beat the Foxes.

Fabinho at right-back is the only slight issues, but that 10 day gap thanks to cup elimination could now prove to be Heaven sent.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are coming back from their spells on the treatment table, and Liverpool could look very well placed as they ramp up their title quest.

Klopp just has to keep Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk fit and the team should have enough in its locker to keep winning domestic games.

Bayern Munich are their Champions League opponants, and while Benitez can’t help Liverpool with that, his Newcastle smash-and-grab could be the difference between the sides at the end of the season.

To take things even better, Manchester United could only get a draw against Burnley. But, they were lucky to even secure a point as the Red Devils scored two late, late goals to crush Sean Dyche’s heart.

As the transfer market draws to a close, it doesn’t appear as if Liverpool are going to make any signings. They have been linked with Turkish starlet, but we spoke to an expert who pretty much rubbished that.
