Liverpool could only draw with Leicester City and well known journalist Melissa Reddy has brilliantly summed up what went wrong.

The Reds night got off to a blinder after Sadio Mane opened the scoring after just three minutes, but then that great big slab headed Harry Maguire equalized for the Foxes just before half time.

And it just appeared as if little things kept on going against Jurgen Klopp’s team, while the attack was rusty and key decisions failed to go for Liverpool.

Leicester also had enough chances to win the game, and James Maddison was guilty of missing a guilt edged chance.

Klopp pulled a rabbit out of the hat by playing Jordan Henderson at right-back, while pairing Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri in the middle.

Fabinho features in defence for his national side, but the gaffer decided that it would be Henderson who took up duties at full-back as the Sunderland local followed in James Milner’s footsteps.

Aside from that, there were no other team surprises and Klopp stuck with the players who had done so well up to now.

But they missed an excellent chance to go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after Newcastle United beat Manchester City and sparked wild celebrations last night.

But still, five points is better than four and the Reds are still leading the league as January comes to a close.

Only losing once this season is a massive benefit and Klopp should be able to keep his composure to lead Liverpool to their first ever Premier League crown. The German is a winner and has upset the odds before with Borussia Dortmund.
