Liverpool could only managed a draw against West Ham on Monday night and people are cursing one transfer window decision that the club made.

And that’s because James Milner was started at right-back while the Reds have a perfectly good defender still on the books.

But oh yeah, he’s been loaned to Bournemouth for the rest of the season and won’t be recalled. Nathaniel Clyne, we coulda done with you.

I mean, Clyne clearly was surplus to requirements at Anfield and so the move to the south coast would have been good for his moral – but it may have made the difference against the Hammers.

And that could end up making the difference at the end of the season.

His final game for Liverpool was an excellent performance in the win against Manchester United, and it was also his 100th for the Reds.

In a game where the midfield failed to deliver and seriously divided opinion among fans, Milner could have been moved to partner Fabinho or Naby Keita and provide something different.

The right-back did provide the assist for Sadio Mane’s goal, and that’s maybe something Clyne isn’t so good at. We all know Klopp likes his full-backs to attack well, and if the former Southampton man had that in his locker he’d probably still be at the club.

After half-time the West Ham ground staff were conspiratorially only patching up the end the Hammers would be attacking – but it didn’t do them any good at the rest of the match saw no further goals.

Klopp gave Adam Lallana his second Liverpool start of the season and the former ace failed to make the most of his rare Premier League chance.

The Reds take on Bournemouth next the league, and hopefully Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit another it might give the gaffer another chance to curse his decision making in the transfer market.
