Liverpool vs Bournemouth: Jurgen Klopp buzzing and Wijnaldum alarm
Jurgen Klopp was buzzing after Liverpool beat Bournemouth in the Premier League, but admitted that he was alarmed with Gini Wijnaldum.
The Reds went three points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating the Cherries 3-0 at home. Goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Wijnaldum ensured Klopp would be going home a happy man as Liverpool enter their mini-break from top flight football.
Mane hit the back of the net for the fourth game in a row while Salah consolidated his position at the top of the golden boot rankings -but the performance of the team overall is what really excited the manager.
Bournemouth were without Callum Wilson or David Brooks and any side would struggle when deprived of their two main attacking threats, but the Liverpool defence still did well to keep a clean sheet.
James Milner started out of position at right-back, although nobody would be able to tell. Milner provided an assist for the second game in a row as he grows in to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s role.
Liverpool really needed to blow the Cherries out of the water and return to their free-flowing ways – and that’s exactly what they did. The Leicester and West Ham draws were slightly worrying, but this result was a sign of a team back to their best.
