Liverpool fans can now expect star midfielder, Gini Wijnaldum to return back to training after a short spell of illness.

It was reported by LFC that the Liverpool midfielder will make his trip to Marbella today to meet back up with his teammates. Jurgen Klopp was quoted saying this,

"“Gini didn’t train yet, that’s of course not cool after a very intense game for him. So he had a little dip, but will start today so that’s good.”"

Luckily, Liverpool has until Tuesday to get the squad to full health before they square off with German giants, Bayern Munich in the Champion’s League round of 16. If Wijnaldum can get back to full strength, he will surely be included in the match day squad after putting in a number of great performances.

The Dutch midfielder’s last game against Bournemouth was an absolute spectacle. It was a flu game that was “Jordan-esque”, as Gini scored a rare and rather wonderful chip against Artur Boruc, and was his usual self in the support of the defense.

The former Newcastle man was almost a forgotten piece of last year’s Champion’s League run at the beginning of the year. Now he is considered as one of Jurgen Klopp’s most dangerous and effective weapons in the double-six formation that he loves to play so much.

The way Gini can hold the ball off from defenders is unusual for a player not known for his size of physicality. But the 28 year-old also has a dribbling run and goal in him once in a while as well, another trait that makes him one of the most versatile midfielders in the Premier League to be quite honest.

With the defense still battered from injury, and Virgil van Dijk out of the first leg against Bayern due to yellow card accumulation, the midfield will be busy. Liverpool will need players supporting in the back, and not leaving the center halves out to dry, which means that Gini is probably one of the more suited players to be chosen.

Nonetheless, its good to have our midfielder turned model back into training.
