Liverpool fans are rapt with Fabinho after the club posted a highlights package of his performance against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The Brazilian starred as the Reds beat the Cherries 3-0 to reassert their authority over the league.

It’s been a slow introduction to Liverpool life for Fabinho, who has started to become more and more influential as the season moves on. On a side note, you should really read this interview with Jurgen Klopp’s assistant Pep Lijnders – who goes into detail about the former AS Monaco man’s start to life on Merseyside.

But Fabinho is flying now, and this highlights video produced by the club’s in house staff proves his worth to Klopp and the starting XI.

Another aspect of his game that makes a massive difference is versatility. So far Fab has featured at right-back, centre-back and in midfield  – and he may have to drop into defence against Bayern Munich is Dejan Lovren can’t recover in time.

Fabinho’s fortunes are in contrast to those of Naby Keita. Keita was initially thrust into the Liverpool team much earlier than the Brazilian, but it is the former who is now considered to be one of the more important midfielders.

After a bright start, Keita faded due to a combination of form and injury concerns. However, the former RB Leipzig man is starting to come good in recent weeks and it’s still easy to see how he’d be a big player going forward.

Klopp kept Fabinho back and waited until October to hand him his first start – a pattern we’ve observed before and doubtless a pattern that’ll continue with the gaffer. However, Fabinho has still stated his surprise that Klopp made him wait so long.

Sky Sports reported that the Brazilian said he wanted to play earlier, and felt that he was ready to do so. But Fab was at pains to point out that Klopp must have seen something he couldn’t recognise, and stated that all the staff helped him a lot.
