Liverpool play Watford on Wednesday night in the Premier League and you’d better strap yourself in for the impending goalfest.

That’s because whenever the Reds meet the Hornets, things happen. Liverpool have won five of the last six meetings between the two sides by a ridiculous aggregate of 20-4.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have put eight past Watford without reply in the last two fixtures – a 5-0 Anfield win in March 2018 and a 3-0 Vicarage Road thumping in November last year.

Mohamed Salah scored four while Roberto Firmino go one as the Reds buried their London opponents, while it was joy all round just before Christmas when Salah and Firmino hit the back of the net again as they were joined on the sheet by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The only slight blemish on the near impeccable record was a 3-3 draw from 2017, but Liverpool have a much stronger defence now that Virgil van Dijk has been brought in. Joel Matip may have his moments, but alongside van Dijk he’s a much improved defender and the record reflects that.

Liverpool may be slightly out of form but this should be a game that’ll get the front three firing again. Firmino may miss out, but Daniel Sturridge or Divock Origi should be good enough to play their part in a win on Wednesday.

The Reds are without a loss against their mid-week opponents in the last six games and you get a feeling that they aren’t going to break that record any time soon.

By drawing against Manchester United, Liverpool went one point clear at the top of the Premier League – but the whole team will know that they need to keep the three points rolling in if they are to make history.

While the past points towards a routine win, Klopp will know that no game in the top flight is as easy as that. But, with nearly a full complement of players available to the German it should be a nice win in the bag.
