Burnley boss Sean Dyche is excited to take on Liverpool as his team travel to Anfield for the Premier League clash on Sunday.

Dyche was speaking ahead of the game against the Reds, and the Burnley Express reported that the English gaffer was looking forward to the fixture.

The Clarets have lost their previous two fixtures against Rafa Benitez masterminded Newcastle United and Roy Hodgson lead Crystal Palace, but despite that their manager is still feeling optimistic.

“You lose two and that makes another story, but we’d not been beaten in eight,” Dyche bullishly reminded the gathered press.

Every bottom tier side will face against the top six at some point in the season, and Burnley’s boss reckoned that these are the games he looked forward to.

“Those games are great games to have – no one is expecting anything of anyone there this season,” added Dyche.

Recent history doesn’t paint an optimistic picture for Burnley and their fans. Liverpool have won five out of the last six league games between the two sides, and in December managed to come from behind to seal a 3-1 victory.

The Clarets are prone to the odd moment of giant killing, but Sunday should not be one of those times. Liverpool have had a long rest between the Everton draw and this fixture, and are nearly at full strength in terms of availability.

For teams who have ambitions on the Premier League, welcoming a side like Burnley to your home turf and leaving with three points in the bag should be tough but routine.

And you know how Dyche will set his men up. They’ve got big, strong forwards in Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood and a combative midfield.

But our blokes are bigger and stronger, and the boys across the middle can get involved in the dark arts too.

Dyche may think these are great games, so lets send him back to Burnely with a different opinion.
