Liverpool 2-1 Fulham: Handy Andy makes young fan’s day with heartwarming gesture
Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has made a young fan’s day with a heartwarming gesture after beating Fulham 2-1 in the Premier League.
After the game Robertson, who has quickly become a fan favourite, handed over his playing top to young Ben – who was in the away end for the first time.
It’s gestures like this that may not mean a huge deal to the player, but they understand it can mean the word to those who travel and pay to support Liverpool.
Robertson had already endeared himself to fans after he organized to send a signed Roberto Firmino top to a young lad called Alfie who donated his pocket money to foodbanks.
Robbo signed off that letter ‘nobody wants the left-back’s shirt’, which couldn’t be further from the truth in this case. At his current rate of improvement, everyone is going to want the best left-back in the world’s top in the next two or three years.
Liverpool nearly suffered another setback in their quest to win the Premier League after a James Milner, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker error allowed former Red Ryan Babel the chance to equalize at Craven Cottage.
But then Sadio Mane was fouled in the box and Miner atoned for his sins, scoring the game’s third and giving the Reds all three points.
Mohamed Salah has now gone seven games without hitting the back of the net, but this seems to have energized Mane – who now has 11 in his last 11 games. The Senegalese international also has 17 Premier League strikes, and if he carries on with this current form could win the Golden Boot.
As for Robertson, people definitely do want the left-back’s shirt now. Especially when that lad cost peanut from relegated Hull City and is probably the best in the Premier League.
Liverpool play Tottenham in their next league game, but do it on the 31st of March because of the international break.
