Liverpool legend Kolo Toure has recently celebrated his birthday and because of it fans have started remembering his finest moments for the club.

Toure has attained cult like status among the Reds because of his antics on and off the field. Was he had good? Not really, not at Anfield. Kolo was epic for Arsenal and his early Manchester City career, but not really at Liverpool.

But he did have absolutely boss moments. Pocketing Sergio Aguero, making Cristiano Ronaldo reconsider his career, shoulder slamming refs. This was just an average day in the life of Toure.

Kolo was absolutely mad and on his trial for Arsenal crunched Theirry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and then Arsene Wenger after being told not to tackle anyone. It’s not Liverpool related but it just shows the spirit of the man and that’s partly why we all love him so much.

And then there was that mental salmon tackle against Stoke City in the cup that actually worked, or how he got Steven Gerrard to lead a chant in his and his brother Yaya’s honour.

Toure made 71 appearances for Liverpool in three years after signing from the Cityzens on a free, and although it didn’t quite have the same effect as James Milner arriving, there is no doubt that Kolo played some big games.

The Ivory Coast international was a decent back up option more than anything else, and he probably understood that. He did arrive past his prime and left as a 34-year-old, but some things run deeper than just ability.

His one goal was pretty much a mistake. That barrel shoulder barge was straight out of the top bin and the salmon dive was world class.

Degsy might be the closest thing we’ve got to that now, but it’s just not the same. Happy birthday big man.
