From Sociadad to Tuscany: Every game scouted by Liverpool in March
Liverpool are a massive Premier League club and have an impressive scouting operation, here’s every game scouted by the club in March.
We scrolled through the Scouts in Attendance Twitter page to see what Reds talent spotters have been up to last month, and this is what was returned.
And despite the high volume of transfer stories, there were relatively few reports of scouts being dispatched to watch players in the flesh – and a few names that pop up may even surprise you.
It probably won’t come as a huge surprise to learn that there are a few attackers and a few defenders on the list, and if those deals go through it’ll mean time being called on a few Anfield careers.
Federico Chiesa and Diego Llorente
Liverpool have scouted Fiorentina winer Federico Chiesa, but the Reds could face competition from Bayern Munich for the star.
The 21-year-old is worth £45 million has played 28 Serie A games this season with six goals and seven assists, and has 103 senior appearances behind him with 22 goals and 20 assists.
Juventus and Inter Milan also want to sign Chiesa, said Scouts in Attendance, but Liverpool and Munich are the bigger foreign sides who want to pluck the Italian away from Fiorentina.
The Reds have also been casting their eye over Sociedad defender Diego Llorente, who has picked up two caps for Spain.
His junior career included a spell at Real Madrid, and he only joined his current side for £6.30 million in July 2017. Llorente played three times for Madrid, but has now clocked up 103 La Liga games and could be ready for the next big move.
An under 19 international and a Ligue 2 forward
Liverpool spotters watched Greece U19s play Denmark U19s in Loughborough, England, on the 25th of March.
However, it was not specified which player out of both countries the Reds were interested in, so that makes knowing who was being scouted tricky.
Liverpool and Barcelona are interested in Paris FC forward Silas Wamangituka – and have both scouted the Democratic Republic of Congo born 19-year-old.
Wamangituka has seven goals and one assist from his 23 league appearances this season and would clearly be one for the Academy to work with in the future.
This is only his first campaign of senior football, so asking Wamangituka to move to Anfield so early on would be a lot.
