No.1 – Gini Wijnaldum
This is by far the easiest one to predict. In the hierarchy of midfielders the manager trusts, Gini is top. His flexibility to defend and attack plus his elite level of tactical awareness has made the Dutch international a lock for big games. And every game is a big one from here on out.
The last time Gini didn’t start for Liverpool – away at West Ham – they were utterly uninspiring. His subtle creativity and economy with the ball is an oft-unseen cog in a smooth operating Liverpool side.
The Reds could really do with more goals from midfield and he only has two goals this season. However that is one more than Fabinho and two more than both Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita. James Milner has six but they are inflated by penalties. Wijnaldum will be the most likely of the three to score tomorrow. There is no way Klopp starts Xherdan Shaqiri.
You can put this one into your team sheet in ink. Wijnaldum will start on the left side of the midfield threesome. The big question is who will be the central defensive lynchpin?
