Would Fiorentina be willing to sell?

Two years left on his contract as of this coming summer, so Fiorentina do have a decision to make. If he were to have 4 years left to run on his contract I’d expect that Fiorentina wouldn’t be willing to settle for much less than £80-100 million.

But considering the two years left on his contract, whilst also acknowledging that Fiorentina are not the richest of clubs, there’s perhaps scope for a cheaper deal to be struck. Moreover, Fiorentina are developing something of a reputation as a selling club, much to the fans frustration.

I think there is a feeling around the club that unless they’re competing in Europe or challenging for domestic honours they’re always going to struggle to keep hold of a player like Chiesa. But he’s playing at his boyhood club and as such he’s not rocking the boat and calling for a better contract or a move away.

The club, and in particular the fans, will be keen to avoid Chiesa joining Juventus in the same vein that Roberto Baggio and Federico Bernardeschi did previously given the rivalry between the clubs.

Napoli are known to have expressed an interest previously (during Maurizio Sarri’s time there) but it’s uncertain whether Carlo Ancelotti would want him as much, or whether they could afford him. If he were to move I think the club and perhaps the player would prefer a move to a different country.
