Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield and kept a clean sheet thanks to the flawless work of Virgil van Dijk, but how did the rest of the players rate?

Jurgen Klopp chose to start Alisson Becker (shock), Andy Robertson and left-back, Joel Matip, van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

It’s a pretty settled backline and until Joe Gomez completely returns from his injury you can’t see it changing much. Dejan Lovren came in for the suspended Matip during the week, but it was business as usual again for the Reds.

You’d think it’ll be a straight fight between Lovren and Matip for the third central defender position going into the new season, with the loser likely to be moved on.

Robertson and Alexander-Arnold have been such important weapons for Klopp and they both had excellent games on Sunday, but couldn’t add to their list of assists for the season.

Jordan Henderson channelled his inner full-back with a lovely clipped cross to set up Sadio Mane’s opening goal while van Dijk gets to claim an assist for Mohamed Salah’s absolute thunderbastard of a goal. Lucky lad.
