Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea: Robert Firmino scares the life out of Willian and we have proof
Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield in the Premier League and Roberto Firmino scared the life out of Willian during the game – and we have proof.
Firmino and his brothers in arms Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane combined to see off the Blues threat and reclaim their position at the top of the Premier League.
The two Brazilians lined up against each other and at one point Willian saw Firmino approaching him to control the ball, and terror struck.
Wide-eyed with a frozen expression of horror across his gulliver, Willian watched as the Reds attacker brought the ball under close control and continued to advance at the Chelsea man.
Bobby didn’t score on Sunday but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t important to the win. Firmino worked hard, as he always does, was threatening with the ball at his feet and provided some silk to go with that intense performance.
He’s the perfect forward for Jurgen Klopp, and could also drop down to operate as a playmaker if required. It’ll be interesting to see what happens for 2019/2020 if Liverpool decide to bring in another out-and-out striker.
The 27-year-old has 12 goals and six assists in the league this season from 33 appearances. Last season Firmino bagged 15 from 37 games, so the Brazilian is pretty much sitting at the same levels.
With Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers as the final four games there is every chance that Firmino will do the same or better – despite a slow start to the campaign.
Most of the defenders in those teams will be approaching the Brazilian with that same mixture of fear and concentration as Willian.
