Liverpool 2018/2019 review: All 20 loan deals ranked and rated
Corey Whelan 5/10
Corey Whelan popped off to Crew Alexandria for a half-season loan deal at the start of the season, played 16 games and then spent the second stanza kicking his heels on Merseyside.
That seems a bit odd, but he did enough for Crew to consider taking him back permanently in the summer – if a few things fall into place.
Whelan has since been released by Liverpool, and Alex manager David Artell confirmed the club had thought about bringing him in on a free.
The defender had been with the Reds since he was 10, but such is life. Hopefully he can go on to have a long and successful career away from Anfield.
