No.1 – Experienced Reds

There is nothing that can prepare to do anything better than doing it before. Liverpool are now in their third European final in four seasons. Spurs have not been to a final in 35 years. James Milner wasn’t even born yet.

The whole build up for a final like this is unique. The traveling, the training, the press. All will be new to Spurs.

Eight of the predicted starters for Klopp’s side started the final defeat against Real Madrid in Kiev last year. Joel Matip was injured but has the experience of last year’s run and final disappointment.

Alisson Becker and Fabinho are the only two for whom this will be new. Are you worried about the occasion affecting that Brazilian pair? Me neither.

The two previous European finals Liverpool have played under Klopp were against Sevilla and Real Madrid. Each of those teams had the experience advantage – they were both holders of those respective trophies for the previous two years.

We are not playing against a Spanish side who are going for their third European title in a row this time around. We are playing Spurs. And we have beaten them twice already this season…
