No.2 – Spurs Know How To Lose

Spurs are experts in losing. They bagged 13 defeats in the Premier League this season; only one less than Everton. Liverpool by contrast had one defeat – away at Man City and were one centimeter from an undefeated league season.

This Liverpool side proved time and again they will not lose. They don’t even draw often. The Reds had a 10-game win streak to finish the domestic season as they fought hard for the title.

Spurs were in the title race back in February but bottled game after to game to put their Champions League qualification for next season in question. They managed to eke it out eventually but that was more to do with Arsenal and Manchester United’s incompetence.

You can say that Europe is different. Liverpool have lost four away games in this competitions this season which is a cause for concern.

However most of those were back in the group stage. Klopp’s team have only lost one of their last seven European games. Spurs have lost two of their last three. Only last-minute drama against Man City with a goal disallowed and Ajax collapsing with exhaustion has got them here. They’ve had their luck. Now things will regress to the mean.
