Daniel Sturridge

Now this is a strange one. Ultimately, the 29-year-old’s Liverpool career will be remembered with a cocktail of conflicting emotions.

It is widely expected that Saturday may be the last time he dons the bird on his chest and it makes a lot of sense to let him go. At his worst, Sturridge was a weekly absentee who just couldn’t curb the injuries and regain peak form.

At his best, he was the unstoppable striking partner of Luis Suarez, who could pull an opportunity out of the air, regardless of his previous involvement in the game.

If Liverpool are pressed against the ropes on Saturday and need a spark of imagination in front of goal, Sturridge’s idyllic swan song is an outside bet.
