Deal announced, but it’s not the one fans want
A deal to take Liverpool starlet Sheyi Ojo to Rangers on a season long loan has been announced but it’s not the one that fans want.
The Reds sent Ojo to Ligue 1 in France for 2018/2019 but he struggled to make an impact, and the Daily Record reported that Gers boss Steven Gerrard is about to make the most of his links at Anfield.
But, this isn’t the move Rangers supporters wanted to see. Ryan Kent is the aim of the game, according to the Twitter replies to journalist Bruce Archer’s tweet.
Kent played 23 Scottish Premier League games and scored six goals while creating six others, his best return on a loan deal in his entire career.
It was a real breakthrough move for the winger, who had started to stagnate after failed moves with Freiburg in the Bundesliga and Bristol City in the Championship.
As move to the Premier League could be next for the Academy man, with Aston Villa interested in taking him. Leeds United have also expressed their interest, so there is serious competition for Rangers to overcome.
Ojo has already confirmed terms with Rangers, and Liverpool are expected to give it the okay and will probably meet up with Gerrard for pre-season training.
As well as Kent and Ojo, Gers have also had Ovie Ejaria in their ranks and you can only expect that number to increase as long as Gerrard is in charge of the side.
Ojo only played 15 games last season and just over 700 minutes for the French side last season, and with no goals or assists you can’t say that it was the most successful loan spell.
You doubt that he’s got a future at Liverpool but things could change in the future. Most likely this deal is about getting his value up before an eventual sale.
