Liverpool transfer news Neil Etheridge

Neil Etheridge

Cardiff City would be likely to sell Neil Etheridge, but for a very different reason to all the other three goalkeepers.

For a start, Etheridge is the only first team regular on the list. He played every single game of the Bluebirds fateful relegation campaign, and that’s alerted other clubs to his availability.

According to the press, Aston Villa also want the Philippines international and that bidding war could drive up the price. The 29-year-old’s value currently stands at £7.20 million, so you can’t imagine Liverpool getting him for less than £10 million.

Etheridge already has a good relationship with the current Villa management team, who he worked with at Walsall. But could he turn down the lure of Liverpool, especially after just one season in the top flight?

All these stopper options would cost around or under £10 million. All have top flight experience and all are available this transfer window. I’d take any of the four.
