Liverpool are expected to confirm the signing of Harvey Elliot from Fulham so we went and did some research.

The Reds are on a roll. They’ve got their heads on a swivel and they’re hunting down the best young footballers from around the planet.

First came Sepp van der Berg, next is Elliot. Nobody knows who Michael Edwards will turn to after those two, but you better be excited about it.

Fulham are going to be the latest side to have one of their brightest Academy graduates snatched from under their noses, but sometimes that doesn’t annoy fans are much as it should. Especially when it involves a certain attacker with a top knot.

I had a scroll through Twitter and asked a few questions to a few Fulham fans that I could find on the platform in order to gauge their reaction to the news and immanent departure from Craven Cottage, and the result was a bit surprising.

Most of them couldn’t give a hoot about losing one of the top starlets in the country. They mainly cited a poor attitude, arrogance and even lack of talent for this lack of transfer melancholy, which came as a bit of a shock.

Normally fans are gutted to see someone like Elliot leave the club, especially after Fulham bosses promised him first team football and gave the 17-year-old a shot in the seniors last season.

Maybe that is a form of fatigue at the way football is now. Bigger sides tend to hoover up the best talent from those lower down the food chain on a relentless, mechanical fashion.

But there is real hope with Elliot, and Liverpool is an excellent place to join as a youngster – especially with Jurgen Klopp as manager.

Hopefully these Fulham fans are proven wrong in the future and Liverpool have snagged an excellent prospect with a fantastic attitude, but the proof is in the pudding and we won’t find out for a few years yet.
