Reds Soaring, Blues Sinking

Chelsea were embarrassed 4-0 by Manchester United on Sunday in their opening game of the Premier League season. The Blues had some nice spells of possession but errors at the back and a lack of clinical finishing meant they made their way back to London with their heads in their hands.

New manager Frank Lampard tried to gloss over the loss but that didn’t stop many speculating that this is the worst Chelsea side since Roman Abramovich took over in 2003. We will see if they can exceed the depths of the post-Mourinho 2015/16 Chelsea that finished 10th.

Liverpool on the other hand have their best side in the Premier League era and showed no signs of dropping off in the Community Shield fixture and opening day 4-1 victory over Norwich City.

Mohamed Salah scored in his third consecutive Premier League season opener as the Reds swatted away the newly promoted side with ease.

Obviously playing at Old Trafford is a much tougher task but all the evidence from the opening weekend suggests that Klopp’s side will be able to tear apart Chelsea tomorrow night.
