Joe Gomez

Joe Gomez could find his way in the side one of two ways, and both won’t really diminish the quality of the Liverpool defence.

Firstly, Klopp could bring the young England international in for Joel Matip and rest the Cameroonian. Or, he could swap out Trent Alexander-Arnold and give Gomez a run at right-back.

Klopp has used this rotation before and it seems like this could be the most likely way Gomez will get into the side right now. Although Newcastle’s attack isn’t strong enough to give Alexander-Arnold a rest on that basis

Although he started the Community Shield, the first Premier League game of the season and played the full 120 minutes in the Super Cup, Gomez has seen his game time restricted since then and this would be a good way to clear out some of the cobwebs.

The 22-year-old remains an important part of the Liverpool squad, but he will need to be brought back into the side at some point.
