Record-breaking transfer Alisson Becker has excited Liverpool fans today as he predicts he is very close to a return to first team action.

Alisson Becker has played only 39 minutes of Premier League football this season. However we are close to seeing more according to the latest interview with the transfer record-breaking goalkeeper.

Speaking to the Official LFC website today he says: “I’m on a good way, I think we are nearly there.”

After the October international break has been the aim date for his return but his latest comments imply we may see him sooner:

“I can go outside to the pitch to do some goalkeeper work and I feel very well. I feel confident and I think now it’s just about getting all my power, all my confidence to come back and do what I love to do.”

Fans have been understandably excited to see the Brazilian who won the Premier League and Champions League golden gloves after his £66.8 million move from Roma in July 2018.

Alisson also took time to speak about the other goalkeepers at the club; Adrian who has been his understudy and Caoimhin Kelleher who is set to make his debut tonight in the League Cup.

Of Adrian he says: “He’s a special guy who came late in the season, he just came and shows everyone his value, not just as a player but as a person and that is the more important thing. He is doing very well on the pitch.”

His words of encouragement to Kelleher are strong: “He is a great guy. He’s not a boy anymore, he is becoming a man making I think his first official game for Liverpool. I hope he can just do what he does every day here in training.”

After tonight’s game, Liverpool have three more fixtures before the international break; away at Sheffield United on Saturday; home to Red Bull Salzburg in a week and Leicester City at Anfield the following weekend. Hopefully we will get a glimpse of Alisson in those games!
