Liverpool host Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday and we have injury news, the predicted team and some warm words for you.

Let’s kick off with injury news first, because that’s always one of the main talking points before and after games. Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Joel Matip will miss out on Wednesday night due to a knock he picked up against Sheffield United.

Xherdan Shaqiri is also unavailable because of his calf injury, while Alisson Becker will continue his treatment even though the goalkeeper is getting better all the time.

Matip’s withdrawal from selection opens the door for Joe Gomez to come into the starting XI, while we can expect the rest of the defense to look the same as it has done all season with Adrian between the sticks.

Klopp often gives his midfield a little shuffle for Champions League games and it’s for that reason that we think James Milner will come into the side instead of Gini Wijnaldum, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho as his partners.

Divock Origi is back to full fitness and he’s predicted to come back into the starting XI in place of Roberto Firmino, while the men out wide will be the ever predictable Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Salzburg’s teenage superstar Erling Haaland has recovered from his bout of illness and will be in contention to play on Wednesday night, revealed the Red Bull head coach Jesse Marsch.

Marsch has also been forthcoming with his praise for Liverpool, who have a similar philosophy to Salzburg. But there is just one key difference: we’re better at it.

“All the things we do well, they are better at,” The Times reported that the American coach said. And if you look at how their front three play, there are clear syslistic similarities and player characteristics.

Next. Meet the Red Bull danger men Daka, Hwang and Haaland. dark

That should make it an excellent game to watch, so make sure you’ve got your eyes peeled on Wednesday night.
