Liverpool are being called every name after the sun by rivals after a perfect Premier League weekend takes them eight points clear in the table.

Fandom is fueled by success. Another Premier League victory this weekend for Liverpool against Leicester City takes the Reds eight points ahead of second place. Winning feels so good.

But if you can add to that fume from your rivals and enemies, it can taste even sweeter. Reds were being energized by the brilliance of their team and manager but also by the ire of Manchester City, Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur fans whose teams all lost this weekend.

Much of the fury stems from Liverpool’s last-minute penalty. Sadio Mane made the most of some contact in the box to prompt the spot kick that James Milner tucked away to give the Reds three points and maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season.

That led to many accusing Liverpool of being lucky, or spawny or straight up cheaters. That anger does nothing but a smile upon my face.

Liverpool were not as lucky on Saturday as people imagine. This incredible start to the season has been built on hard work, coaching and an unshakeable desire to win.

Everton are in the relegation zone. Spurs are getting hammered by everyone they play. Man City are struggling to keep up with all their injuries. And Manchester United have had their worst start to a Premier League season.

They have just 9 points from the first 8 games and are 15 points behind the Reds. The two teams will face each other in the next Premier League game week after the international break at Old Trafford.

Losing to Liverpool last season was the last straw for Jose Mourinho as United manager. History could repeat itself with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if the Reds take their rivals apart in a couple of weeks time. Imagine the fume…
