Liverpool have been linked with the transfer of Leicester City starlet James Maddison. Here are three reasons why they should avoid him.

The Foxes only signed Maddison from Norwich City last summer for what seemed like a hefty fee at the time, but they look set to recoup more than double the £24 million they paid for him. Jurgen Klopp has been credited with interest in the playmaker, but you never know with this type of rumour.

Leicester have been able to get a series of good performances out of their young gun and the 22-year-old also already scored 10 goals and created nine assists in 46 appearances, but should a man with such limited time in the Premier League command such a fee?

Maddison’s value differs depending on where you look and who you speak to, but one thing is for sure: it’ll take an offer close to £70 million to prise him away from the King Power.

Four months ago the Evening Standard published a piece saying Leicester would accept that price for the English attacker. But that was before the season started and you’d have to imagine that number would be more now after two goals and two assists from seven games.

Jason Cundy thinks James Maddison would fetch a massive £100 million, wrote the Leicester Murcury, but surely that figure is one that’s firmly rooted in fantasy land delusion.

We wrote a piece earlier in the month about why Liverpool should make a move for the player, and now we’re going to balance the books by showing you three reasons why the club should not.
