Sky and Gary Neville got it horribly wrong on Sunday during and after Liverpool played Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

The Reds beat Tottenham 2-1 thanks to a penalty in the last few moments, and the former Manchester United player-turned-pundit has a few words to say about Mohamed Salah.

Given his playing history, it’s mental that Sky allow Neville to be one of the lead pundits for a Liverpool game. GNev doesn’t like the club, and that’s okay. He’s been brought up and conditioned not too – it’s a massive rivalry for him, after all.

But Neville decided to pile into Salah, as the Mirror reported. “Salah has been known to go to ground in the opposing penalty area,” said the United man – who then went on to argue that Mo is a known diver and shouldn’t have earned the penalty.

“It was theatrical from Salah,” argued the former Red Devil. But we would be well within our rights to argue that he should not be taking part in the panel for a Liverpool game.

Sky have history of this and Newcastle United fans have a history of being aggrieved with the broadcaster for fielding Niall Quinn as one of their commentators for games against Sunderland.

That’s the former Sunderland chairman Quinn, the man who played 130 games for the Black Cats, taking the mic against their biggest rivals. In that occasions, and on Sunday night, Sky get it horribly wrong and they need to stop it.

The worst thing about it is these former players banging on about diving this, cheating that like they never conned a free-kick or a penalty in their live, or behaving like their side hasn’t won a dodgy decision before.

Every side does it, and it’s not the purpose of this piece to argue if Salah went down too easily or not. It was a penalty though, Liverpool won it, converted it and the rest is history. With or without Gary Neville’s latest anti-Red opinion.
