Goals from Fabinho, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah put the Reds in a commanding position before Bernardo Silva pulled one back at the end.
Jurgen Klopp opted for the more conservative midfield of Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum either side of the Brazilian and it worked a treat.
After Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain impressed against Genk, Arenal and Genk again there were calls for him to be picked for this massive clash, but Klopp held firm and went with his first choice trio. With three points safely in our hands, that’s why he gets paid to make the big calls.
The win takes Liverpool nine points clear of Leicester City, who occupy second thanks to victory against Arsenal. City have slumped to fourth, behind Frank Lampard‘s Chelsea, and that will give Pep Guardiola something to think about over the international break.
