They’re in terrible form

The other two reasons lead into this but Everton are in terrible form right now. It looked like they were heading towards an unexpected win against Leicester but that dream turned into a nightmare as Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho scored late goals to consign them to another defeat.

That makes it their eighth loss of the season. Everton have only won four games and just drawn twice. They are floundering near the relegation zone and it isn’t beyond the realms of imagination to imagine them being sucked into a battle to avoid the drop if they aren’t careful.

Silva will almost certainly get the boot, the question is just when rather than if. You don’t want to play Liverpool at the best of times but when you can’t string together a sequences of wins and good performances that makes the thought even less appealing.

The Reds are the polar opposite of their Merseyside rivals. They win games, they come from behind and they record ugly victories. After two defeats in a row, including to Norwich City, things are not going well right now and you couldn’t pick a better time for Liverpool to take them on.

This should be another Merseyside Derby that finishes with bragging rights for the Reds.
