The top 10 best Liverpool players of the 2010s

No.9 – Trent Alexander-Arnold
He’s only 21 but has already played 105 times for the Reds and registered 26 assists with five goals. He’s cemented his place in a problem area of the side and the right-back berth is his for as long as he wants it. He enabled Klopp to revolutionize how Liverpool play and for that he gets in the team of the decade.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is a generation talent and when he’s fit he gets in the side. We’ve seen how important Trent is to the side when he misses out, as he did against Napoli, because the defence looks weaker and the attack looks less dangerous.
Incredibly Alexander-Arnold has only played 69 Premier League games but it seems like he’s been around for a lot longer than that. Other right backs just can’t match up to the youngster. Nathaniel Clyne doesn’t get close, Joe Gomez will never be a full-back.
Other players across the decade were good, but never up to the levels of Trent. Glen Johnson had flashes of brilliance but was ultimately a frustrating player to watch, Jon Flanagan briefly threatened to be the next home-grown hero and Martin Kelly never made the cut.
His contributions to the cause have been incredible as well. There was that free-kick against Hoffenheim to secure Champions League football in his debut season, the quickly taken corner for Origi to score against Barcelona and his stunning free-kick against Chelsea earlier this season.
There is no reason he can’t be in the team of the decade in 2030 as well.
