No.3 – Luis Suarez

In the 2011 January transfer window, Liverpool made two big signings Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. These forwards would have vastly contrasting impacts in their brief Anfield careers.

Across three and a half seasons with Liverpool, Suarez scored 69 goals in 110 premier league games and another 13 goals in between the FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League.

No team felt his wrath more than Norwich. He played against the Canaries on six occasions and scored 12 goals against them. He had hat-tricks against them on April 28 and September 9, 2012. On December 4, 2013, Suarez would score four on the Canaries in 5-1 drubbing.

Suarez won the Premier League golden boot in 2013/14 with 31 goals. He was unplayable that year. No team could defend against him. He was tenacious, tireless, lethal in front of the net, and he could get under your skin (sometimes literally). Suarez was the perfect center forward.

The off-field drama was awful. His constant jockeying to leave was maddening. But, by God, could he play. Have any of us seen a more talented player to wear a Red shirt in front of the Kop? I haven’t. Just watch these goals:

His otherworldly talent and technique, combined with a (sometimes destructive) will to win, saw him sit just behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the undoubted third best player in the world.

Luis Suarez arrived for £13.2 million less than Andy Carroll and the club made a £42.18 million profit on him after he shipped off to Barcelona. Football is a business and Luis Suarez was good for business.
