Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson, James Milner

Liverpool have got excellent strength in depth across midfield and it shows how well the engine room has been playing that the calls for Naby Keita to be included have died down.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was the pick of the litter against Brighton and will keep his place in the side, while Georginio Wijnaldum didn’t do so well and will be sacrificed in order to get Milner into the side.

Klopp loves Milner in big games and the veteran is an outstanding leader on the field, exactly the type of player who is required to take huge occasions by the scruff of the neck and bend them to his will.

With Milly alongside Jordan Henderson, who will play the more defensive role once more, Liverpool are packed with leadership ability and a bit of nasty in the middle of the park. This is an excellent combination to have for the Merseyside Derby – an occasion that will be highly charged.

Wijnaldum may feel unlucky to miss out but his form hasn’t always been excellent and Milner does seem to be the go-to man for the manager when he wants to ensure some control during important fixtures.

Otherwise Fabinho is injured while Keita won’t get in the side while Oxlade-Chamberlain is playing so well.
