Jurgen Klopp names the world class part of Harry Wilson’s game
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has named the world class part of loan star Harry Wilson’s game as he spoke ahead of the Bournemouth game this Saturday.
Wilson has been in good form for his loan club and has scored six goals in 14 Premier League appearances for the Cherries.
After getting off to an excellent start to 2018/2019 by hitting the back of the net three times in his first five top flight games, the Welsh international had a barren run until breaking his five game dry spell by netting against Newcastle United.
Wilson then scored twice in the 3-2 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur as he played 27 minutes as a substitute, one of them a delicious free kick, as the 22-year-old reminded us of his clinical ability in front of goal.
This is something that Klopp feels is biggest strength as the German praised the forward during his pre-match press conference on Friday. “His skills in that part of the game (finishing) are incredible – world-class, for sure,” the official club website reported that he said.
The whole of the Championship can attest to how lethal the Welshman is in front of goal as he struck 18 times for Derby in 50 appearances, on top of his blistering half-season with Hull City that resulted in seven goals in 14 games.
Harry Wilson is unavailable for the game as part of the condition attached to his loan from Liverpool, and that will give Ryan Fraser the chance to start and push his credentials for more consistent involvement.
Fraser has been linked with a move to Anfield and Klopp will be able to get some more first-hand experience of how the Scotland international operates.
There are high hopes that Wilson will be able to come back at the end of the season and fight for a place in the squad, but there are plenty of areas the manager wants to see the forward get better in.
“Being decisive, being between the lines, using his speed” are all things the gaffer wants Wilson’s time at Bournemouth to improve in the youngsters game.
So far his season has been promising and if he can continue in a similar fashion, there is no reason why the player can’t come back to Anfield and challenge the existing first team.
