Injuries will start to take their toll

We all knew this period of fixtures would test the limbs of all the players, but the several breakdowns the squad have experienced since December ticked around has revealed the danger of the festive period.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana, who started the game against Everton, were unable to take part on Saturday because of niggles they picked up. Fabinho is out until 2021 because of his ankle strain, while Dejan Lovren came off before half time with a hamstring strain.

Klopp is clearly keen to get on top of this and has made several changes to the two teams he sent out this week. With Salzburg on Tuesday, we can expect another round of rotation as the German will want to keep legs fresh.

With City dropping points the main challenge for the title looks set to come from Leicester City. They are in a tremendous run of form and the German won’t want anything to derail his campaign to lift the Premier League after all those years of hurt.

Andy Robertson and Alexander-Arnold will need to be protected in the coming weeks and we should expect to see Milner or Gomez continue to deputise for those two full-backs.
