Liverpool: The 10 best LFC transfers of the 2010s
By David Gate
No.1 – Andy Robertson
“How did we let go of him for just £8 million?” This is something Hull City fans will ponder for decades. Andy Robertson is the best left-back in the world and Liverpool stole him in the summer of 2017.
Robertson found it hard to break into the club’s squad at first but an injury to Alberto Moreno saw the Scotsman make the most out of the opportunity and become Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice left-back. In 102 appearances for the Reds so far, the 25-year-old has amassed three goals and 23 assists.
Last season, Robertson had a magnificent season with Liverpool, providing 13 assists and was named in the PFA Team of the Year as well as in the Champions League Team of the Season. Despite this, he failed to make the Ballon d’Or which was a travesty.
Nevertheless, it still doesn’t deny the fact that Robertson is a world-class left-back. Solid at the back, tireless runs down the flank, excellent crossing, the Scotland captain is the embodiment of a modern-day full-back. For me, Robertson is the best full-back Liverpool have because of how sound he is defensively, something Trent Alexander-Arnold needs to work on.
The 25-year-old has done pretty well in 2019/20 so far with two goals and five assists and there’s no doubt that those numbers will increase as the season progresses.
Robertson was an absolute steal from Hull City and has had a massive impact on Liverpool in the past couple of years. Hence, he takes the top spot on this list.
